Course Description

Biology and Life Science for 9th grade teaches students the essential themes of biology needed to understand how living organisms work and to understand our place in the natural world. Students will study how organisms work as living systems and interact with their surroundings. There are 30 different video lessons in this course which include almost 10 hours of video content. These 30 lessons in this course are broken down into six major units:

Course Goals

Upon completing this course, students will have a firm understanding of the major themes in biology. They will be able to use this knowledge to understand the natural world surrounding us and our place in it. Students will also be prepared to pursue further studies in biology, chemistry, and geology related to these themes.

Target Audience

Biology is one of the major natural sciences, and as such is a part of almost every high school curriculum. As such, this video course is intended for all high school students, particularly those in 9th grade. Students enrolling in this course should have studied basic life science and physical science in grades 5 through 8.

Course Requirements

Students enrolling in this course will need to have studied life and physical science in grades 5 through 8. They will need a computer or mobile device with an internet connection, speakers or headphones, and paper and pencils to write down notes and answer review questions. Students with access to a printer may choose to print out worksheets, labs, and review sheets.  Some common household materials will be necessary to complete the lab investigations.
