This video sheds some light on our philosophy of teaching Second Languages, in general, and French in particular. It underlines our emphasis on the verbal aspect of the language and the priority given to vocabulary over grammar at the early stages of the learning process. Furthermore, it provides the parents with a clear understanding of the intensity of our teaching methodology and approach, and of the tangible results that their child will achieve very quickly in this course.

The instructor presents a clear description of the process in this course, in order for the students to be able to perform to the maximum of their potential. Some detailed explanations of the content of the lessons, the objectives behind the activities, and the necessary steps to be taken are underlined in a very precise way.

In the course introduction video, the instructor asks the student to listen to the French audio and repeat for three times without looking at any text in French or English. Simply listening and repeating at this early stage, in a relaxed manner. After that, the student will read this PNG French and English dialogue to have a clear idea of the content of what is being listened to.

The student will be introduced to a conversation between two characters dealing with magic expressions, salutations, and commonly asked questions. After reading the English version so the meaning of the French text will be understood, the student will listen to the reading, repeat after the instructor, and say the words properly. Then the student will have the opportunity to use the vocabulary acquired to respond, in French, with intonation and expression, to a series of questions.

After the verbal activity of question and answer, the student will listen to a series of words and will choose the right version based on the proper pronunciation.

The student will listen to each question, pause the video and triy to respond to the question in a complete sentence. Once the video is turned on again, the student will hear one or more answers to the question by the instructor. This way, the student will be able to compare the answer he/she gave to the instructor's, and the student will have the opportunity to enrich his/her vocabulary by listening and grasping the meaning of the various answers.

5 Listening activity with review 06:12

An activity that will test the ability of the student to distinguish between the sound of some vowels in French and English. It will offer the student the opportunity to measure their understanding of the spoken words, by simply hearing them and without looking at the text. At this early stage, this activity will enable the student to be aware of the pronunciation of some tricky sounds such as " u, ou" between French and English. Right after the instructor says two words or expressions, the student will choose between A or B, by pausing the video, and then listening to the instructor's answer and review, once the video is turned on.

During the review, the instructor will give a detailed explanation to make the student know where the mistake is so it will be avoided in the future.

There is a detailed explanation in French and English to enlighten the students and to make them aware of the differences between some expressions in both French and English.

If it is a question, a reply is needed. If it is an answer, a question based on this answer is required. The instructor gives a full and detailed explanation of what to do. Once the student hears the sentence, he/she will pause the video and try to come up with a proper reply. Once the video is turned on, the student will hear the reply of the instructor with a review. It is an activity that will test the listening skill of the student while challenging him/her to remember the vocabulary acquired.

This is the first opportunity in the course where the student will have a limited time, a few seconds, to respond to each question. There are 20 questions and the student should not miss more than 5 questions, in order to complete the activity. It is a challenging improvisation exercise where the student will use the retained vocabulary, in a question and answer format, without any interruption. Later on, in another video clip, the instructor will give a detailed set of answers to the student with a full review.

The challenge for the student is to not pause the video, but to let it run until the end. This is very important. We want to help the student measure his/her progress in a concrete way and not to have the perception of being fluent without being put to test. This is extremely relevant to the student and to the parents. After learning about the mistakes made, the student can review the previous lessons in order to get a better result.

Course Description

This Introductory French course puts emphasis on the verbal aspect of the French language. It covers a wide range of material used in all schools, from Grades 2-8 and beyond, where French is taught. We prepared this unique course with two main recipients in mind:
- On one hand, the students who have never had any contact with the French language, so they can develop their verbal fluency before the written one, and those who had learned French previously but need to improve their vocabulary and speaking proficiency in French.
- On the other hand, the parents who have no knowledge of the French language, so that, due to our unique methodology, videos' content and reviews, they can follow the daily progress of their children and feel confident enough to monitor their progress.

Course Goals

Upon completing this intensive French course, the students with no previous knowledge of French will build a solid and rich vocabulary that will enable them to use the language properly and instantly, verbally first, read with expression and intonation and then write, by responding to the challenging opportunties created by the instructor through every lesson. And those with some contact with the French language, will feel more empowered to speak French correctly by exposing them to a practical, simple yet advanced vocabulary that will enrich what they have already acquired, and will make them aware of the errors made due to the influence of the English language on their ability to express themselves in French.

After the child listens for 15 minutes a day to the video on the dialogue, for a few days, he /she will be able to respond to questions posed by the instructor. The key for the student is not to pass or fail, but rather to be able to respond without hesitation to the questions of the instructor. Even the parents can conduct the interview later on, by putting the questions to the student in English and asking the student to respond in French.

While preparing these interview questions and answers, we took into account the fact that many parents are not familiar with the French language. Therefore, we provided them with the following to make the evaluation process simple and relevant:

- One video with the French questions only, that they can use to put the questions to the student.

- Another video with a full review, including answers, comments, what to look for in the answer, in French and English.

- pdf documents of the French questions and the content of the review in French and English.

In order for this evaluation to be successful, the parents need to listen to the Review video first and have a clear idea of what to expect. Afterwards, they can run the video questions and let the student listen to the questions without responding. Simply the student will listen and have an idea of the questions.

After that, the parents will run the video questions and pause it after each question, to let the student respond, then check the answer on the Review video. This way, the student and the parents will be able to see whether the answer corresponds to the answer on the Review Video. In doing this activity, the student will become aware of the notion of gender and number in French, the agreement between adjectives and nouns or pronouns. It will also make the student understand that if the meaning of a sentence is a general one, to change it from singular to plural does not add anything new. Therefore, it should be left in the singular.

In this activity, the parents will be able see closely whether the student has grasped fully the notion of gender and number in French. The review by the instructor is extensive, clear and very relevant.

Test on Indefinite Articles with a review

This activity should be done after the student has the chance to do it verbally in lesson 15 and to listen to the review. This way, the parents will listen to the verbal answers of the student and see whether the student's answers correspond with the answers of the instructor. The student should have at least 21 words correct out of 28.

The second challenging part of this activity is for the student to write the French word correctly. The parents will pause the video after the instructor says the English word, to provide the time for the student to give the French version of the word, and also to write the word in French.Then, the parents will be able to check if the student can write the word correctly in French by comparing the student's answer to the the correct version on the answer sheet provided.

In this exercise, the student will put the words in a logical order. He/she has already seen, learned and used the words.

Section 4: Activity 1 on "aller: to go"

The student will choose the appropriate form of the verb after listening to the explanation of the instructor. This activity reinforces the knowledge of the student about the irregular nature of this verb in French, which the student has already seen, listen to and read in complete sentences previously.
