Homeschooling in Texas and recordkeeping.

  Riyanhomeschooler » Sun, 08 Nov 2020 22:36:41 PM

We have been tutoring our kid ourselves offline at home. I'm looking to change to online lessons. What type of records are required of homeschooled students in Texas? Are you satisfied with the Lernsys program? I would be really grateful if any other homeschooling parent who has used Lernsys for physical science or painting can offer any insight.

Hey therehomeschool-placer It is not required by law for homeschooled students in Texas to maintain records ,nevertheless, it is considered considerably helpful and beneficial to maintain a homeschooling portfolio for your child’s progress year to year. This information is crucial when it comes to creating a high school transcript for future college or career needs or in the event the homeschooler needs to return to school in the future.

As a parent, you may want to consider things worth maintaining a record of. A few ideas for you:

• For any standardized tests taken, keep record of the scores

• The grades by subject achieved by the child

• The subject materials covered at each grade level

• Other achievements of the child including extracurricular activities the child participated in

• Any volunteer work the student undertook while homeschooling

No, it is not a requirement by Texas law to keep records for homeschoolers. The Lernsys homeschool program is self-paced and proven.
